If you are new to Utah, you may have noticed we have some pretty strange liqour laws. If you're a seasoned Utahn you may be a bit frustrated with the limited selection at our state run liqour and wine stores. I know I was when I first moved here five years ago. Coming from Naples, Florida, I was use to going to numerous wine stores where the selection was specific to the owner's tastes. I am still baffled at how one person controls everything that comes into Utah wine stores. I just want to know, how the hell did he land that job??
So, from my own frustration at not being able to find my favorite boutique wines and noticing how many of the wines are rated by Wine Advocate, Wine Enthusist etc., UtahWineKnows was hatched. The purpose of this blog is to help you find wine that will not only compliment your palate, but your food and wallet as well. Of course, I won't just stop there. I will be going to local restaurants, businesses, farmer's markets and events- anything remotely to do with the culinary experience, and promoting the best I find. I will be looking for restaurants with great food and wine lists and server's to match, as well as local genius strutting their culinary (or just plain fun) local flair.
